Kathak Community
I so often prefer to be alone, but SO MUCH in my life is because of the amazing people I have been so lucky to know, learn from, teach, connect with, and be loved by. This community has been with me through thick and thin. Interpersonal exchange is not always easy but we need it now more than ever.
We are connected to a tremendous community through the dance. Guruji would always work harder than anyone and then he would be ready for "party time!," which always included time to share in laughs, lessons, and lots of well-earned food! So much sweat and so many precious memories that continue til today. Even after he had his two babies, he never gave any less of himself to them or any one of us. No one was more important than anyone else. Though he is no longer here in physical form, he left a significant legacy of students, disciples and so many who continue to connect and teach around the world through a global community. I am honored and humbled to be part of that. It is also a huge responsibility that I a thankful for. |
